[MOD] Hacked SIII S-Voice (Voice Talk) V1.3

I saw yesterday an xda tweet about Samsung blocking Svoice on non Galaxy S3 devices, so i got the idea to test it for the first time :D , it seemed easy to hack, so i made a hacked version for test, it seems to bypass the famous “server error” ;) .

Test it and let me know if it’s working for you.

    Hi, I uninstall the default Voice App and the app work´s great but now the “double clicking” in home button don´t open de Voice-S even when I checkmark this option in the app.

    After Flashing the package on CWM, I used root/ES explorer to uninstall Vlingo and then installed a hacked Svoice apk. (Couldn’t find Svoice app too). ‘Hello Galaxy’ wont work, and ‘Square root of Pi’ will crash the app, amongst other queries.

    I just hope this FCs can be fixed. It got my weather correct though. :)

    Hi,
    After testing the app, that i was able to install at the first attempt, i would like to come back to the old vlingo.

    Is there any easy way to unninstall the Svoice?

      Did you make a back-up as instructed before flashing? If so then just restore that backup.

    I’m noticing strange behavior on my galaxy S II … everything installed fine.. but if I ask it what the square root of pi is, svoice closes and stops responding.

    I tried it on a galaxy S III in the store and it worked fine.. .are others seeing this behavior?

    super ca marche sur cm9 et sg2. par conter en kit bluetooth voiture (tester sur c4 et renault) il ne capte pas la voix (donc pas le micro du bluetooth), si vous pouviez faire un miracle!

    I have the samsung galaxy s II skyrocket… Im currently running (ICS) I downloaded the zips files and installed them. But when I went into the file on my phone to install S Voice…. It had an X next to ” Application not installed” can you please help me and let me know what I am doing wrong and why it will not install the app on my phone..

      when i select – install zip from sd card it saye compelet but after reboot i cant find s voice???

        Had same problem – basically not enough room on system partition.
        Removed samsung hubs and Google + (as don’t use them) and made enough space to install.
        Now works great along with Flipboard, which is very neat.

          In root explorer, for the system partition, It says 503 mb used, 8k free. how can i create 100mb space in system partition? It is bizarre ? :S this 503mb is only for the system applications, not the installed apps.

    Hey Wanam, thanks for the efforts here. I’ll def chip in on that S3 next payday. I’m using the lastest AOKP ICS rom and installed S Voice with no issue. The only problems I’m getting are:

    - Cant save alarm, task, or anything that has to do with mapping routes etc.
    - The only wake up command is “Hi Galaxy” while on S Voice.

    Good points so far:
    - Answers most questions ie Who is the current POTUS?

    Overall, its nice to have this despite the major flaws but it’s a good start. Cant really complain since this program is for the S3. I’m sure xda peeps and the rest of the android mad scientist community is working to fix or improve this app. Great job!

      Hey David,

      I’m no expert on Android but I’ve done my share of flashing and such so I hope this can help a bit. Just a reminder, I’m not responsible if your phone breaks. Follow at your own risk.

      - Make sure you’re running a rooted ICS rom.
      - Download the S Voice file and save it in your sd card. (you can either transfer it to your phone from USB or use your phone browser.
      - Go to recovery mode
      - install zip from sd card
      - choose zip from internal sdcard
      -scroll down till you see GT-I9100_WanamLite… select and follow the instruction to install.
      -reboot when done and you can find S Voice in the apps drawer.

      I’m using CWM btw. Hope this helps

            It should be in the apps menu/drawer. Its a blue circle with a mic in the middle. I missed it the first time after installing.

    I tried 1.3 version on SGS2 ICS offcial rom XXLPQ and it works well but some issues are exist like saving tasks and sometimes when asking “what is” Or “who is”

      can you tell me how to do this? I have stock ICS 4.0.4 on my nexus s and just now installd clockworkmod rom manager. downloaded above zip file but it has strange folder structure with 2 APK files. I am just not sure how to install this with clockworkmod. It looks like from other replies that simpy copying APK files onn my device and installing it would not work. I haven’t rooted my phone before and have never flashed a ROM.

    Well I am with bell in Canada and have ICS stock rom rooted. The problem is that this is 81mb of installation but my phones (system) folder only has 25mb left so when i install it trhough CWM, full installation is not done. Is there a way to free 100mb space.

      Have you tried removing Samsung ‘Hub’ apps?
      I also removed Google + and now installed and working well – apart from quick access to Home button, but can live with that.

    Hi, I removed original voicetalk.apk from /system/apps and ran your .zip from CWM. Rebooted and got message “Android is updating” but cannot find S Voice in apps list. TB does not list it either? Stock SGS2 ICS 4.0.3, Thanks

    Hey wanam. First thanks alot for all this work. Im using ur 11.7 rom. App works well an catches close to everything (german) in wlan and G-3G networks.
    Is there a possibility to set computer instead of hello galaxy as the default open command like in startrek ? :-D this might be so great lol. Btw when im at the home screen it doesnt open when im saying hello galaxy :( its my only issue

      You can set your personal voice command from “Set wake-up command” menu.

      the second request is a built-in feature on the sgs3 framework and needs to be ported.

    Hi Wanam,

    I flashed the 1.3 version over the 1.2, and now i can’t launch the app S-voice. I have the following issue “The application is not installed”. And i can’t reinstall the apk , i have also an error.
    Should i remove the 1.2 version before ? If yes, how i can do ?

      No, you don’t need to remove V1.2, make sure you have a free space on your system partition and flash v1.3 again.

      SIII voice need internet connection to work..make sure u have internet connection

        Mine only works on WiFi not 3G….

        Internet is working fine on both.

    hi! does this app work with another rom as well? i mean, i’ve got a dual boot on my SGS2, the latest wanamlite and an aokp rom. i kinda wanted to have this app installed on both roms. i use them each just as much.

    Hi Wanam,
    It works great on 3g, but on wifi it always gives a network error. Any suggestions would be great.
    Looking forward for a new Rom with Jkay Deluxe, I read that the Beta is out already.

    Dowoading now…. I hv got sgs2 with official open EU rom. Will it work on it or does it need roored divice. Could u tell me the procidure I m bit new to Android…… Do I just need to install the apk… Or anything else.

      It needs a cwm recovery or just a rooted device, and you need all included files, not only the app.

      DO A BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING.

    I’m using v11.7, I can’t get s-voice to work as default when double pressing home button :(
    also I patched the rom with your patch (GT-I9100_WanamLite.XWLPD.Stock.LockScreen.zip)

      I didn’t test it as i prefer ics lock screen & faster home button load, so if it doesn’t work that means the implementation has been changed on sgs3 Lock screen.

    Thanks for efforts.
    V1.1 and v1.2 works well on your latest rom (1.7)
    The only little snag with v1.2, is that when you ask for the weather, the location is wrong. Gps on, and all the google location settings on. It defaults to kent (uk)

    With v1.1 it had no problem tell me what was happening outside my window (Liverpool).

    P.s the weather in kent is v nice at the mo!

        If you are on stock ICS, it’s maybe conflicting with Vlingo, try to disable Vlingo with TB or move Vlingo.apk out of /system/app.

    working fine with me but I can’t make it the default voice command app, I mean the double home button press.

      If your are using my WanamLite V11.6+, it was disabled for fast home load, There a separate patch to enable it on my V11.7 download page.

    Have flashed it but it just shows “sorry, I didn’t catch that, Try again” and then hangs… Eventually get a ‘ stopped responding’ error and can close it…
